A fraternal order, the Apprentice Boys was established in 1850, inspired by the Protestant apprentices who defended Londonderry, Northern Ireland, against the Roman Catholic forces of James II in 1688. Willis Lodge #17 was founded at Woodstock, New Brunswick, in 1894. The surviving documentary records of the Lodge were placed in the New Brunswick Provincial Archives at Fredericton.
